Former Hostages Marry With Gown From The Kallah Project
“It’s a reminder that love always rises,” said Debbie Mendal, Founder of the Federation-funded Kallah Project, referencing the contribution of a wedding gown for a former Israeli hostage. Kidnapped on October 7 from Kibbutz Be’eri, Raz and Ohad Ben Ami endured many months of separation. Reunited after 491 days, they discovered their wedding rings, ketubah and home destroyed. During a visit to Miami, the two decided to renew their vows — with help from The Kallah Project. Since its creation, the nonprofit has helped hundreds of Jewish brides celebrate their wedding day with beauty, confidence and dignity, regardless of financial means. Through donations of gowns and accessories, the community bridal boutique honors Jewish tradition fostering a pay-it-forward circle that empowers brides to share their joy with others.
