Local Hillel Chapters Support Jewish Students’ Mental Health Through BeWell Miami

Federation’s BeWell Miami initiative in partnership with Florida Hillels ensures Jewish college students are prioritizing their mental health with access to safe and supportive communities during this tumultuous time. Earlier this summer, Remy Gordon, LCSW, joined the BeWell Miami team as the Hillel Therapist and Wellness Professional, serving both FIU and UM Hillels and her presence is already making an impact. Immediately following the recent news of the execution of six innocent civilians held hostage by Hamas, Gordon offered Jewish students the opportunity to come together for prayer, support and meaningful conversation. Aside from the overwhelming sadness, students felt “unified and connected,” according to Gordon, who added, “In times of difficulty, Hillel becomes a vital lifeline for students … and the Federation partnership provides strength, community and guidance, helping students feel valued and supported.” Additionally, Gordon is offering individual and group therapy sessions free of charge to Hillel students at FIU and UM.
