Providing Vital Mental Health Support to Returning IDF Reserve Soldiers

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation is providing vital mental health support to IDF reserve soldiers through K’far Ma’avar (Transition Village). The October 7 attacks and the ensuing Operation Swords of Iron saw the mobilization of 350,000 reservists. With the ongoing war, many continue to return home to their families and jobs with symptoms of trauma and prolonged stress. Supported by Federation's Israel Emergency Fund (IEF), K’far Ma’avar provides an opportunity to recuperate and learn resilience and stress regulation through experiential workshops, enabling an effective transition from soldier to civilian. In addition to discovering how to cope and reduce anxiety, reserve soldiers are encouraged to take a leadership role in their personal lives and communities. The ability to process their combat experiences and reintegrate into civilian life is critical for their future as well as that of their families, workplaces and Israeli society as a whole.
