Annual “Ministering to the Elderly” Conference to Focus on Life Stages
“Transitions in Life and Beyond” is the theme of the 17th Annual Conference on Ministering to the Elderly, being presented by The Jewish Chaplaincy Program of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, in collaboration with Miami Jewish Health Systems and Jewish Community Services of South Florida, taking place on May 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 5200 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami. Open to the public – and of particular interest to caregivers, clergy, mental health professionals and those involved with older populations – the conference will cover different cultural and religious perspectives on aging, seniors’ evolving views on life and the various ways seniors can make the most of this transformational period in their lives. Dr. Harry Moody, current Director of Academic Affairs for the AARP and author of The Five Stages of the Soul and Aging: Concepts and Controversies, will headline the conference.
“The process of aging can be a period of realignment, of spiritual awakening and inner exploration. As people live longer, this period remains an uncharted ocean in our society; we hope to challenge ourselves to reconsider this new frontier,” says Rabbi Frederick L. Klein, Director of The Jewish Chaplaincy Program and Chair of the Conference.
Registration for the conference is $25 and includes lunch. For more information, or to find out about sponsorship opportunities, please contact Alicia Schindler at 954.253.2830 or [email protected].
