Talking to your Children During Troubling Times

Global events are shaking our world, from the war in Israel and terrorist attacks to ongoing antisemitism, and it can be challenging to explain the pain and complexity of these events to the children we love. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, caregiver, educator, or simply someone who loves a child, Federation’s longtime partner, Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS), can help you guide your child through feelings of fear and confusion that may be arising. How to Speak to Our Children During These Troubling Times: Helping Kids Process Trauma With Support and Understanding offers age-appropriate tools and guidance to support children of all ages, from learning how to “ground yourself” as an adult to helping school-aged children and teens navigate overwhelming news and emotions. If you or someone you know is feeling anxious, overwhelmed, depressed or simply need someone to talk to, please contact JCS at 305.576.6550 to schedule an appointment, or dial 988 for immediate mental health support 24/7/365.
