Students in Miami and Yerucham Celebrate Tu B’Shevat Through Innovative Initiative

Federation is building a meaningful connection between Jewish Miami congregational school students and their peers in Israel through Tu B’Shevat Across the Sea: Miami-Yerucham Partner Trees project. The Jewish New Year of the Trees, Tu B’Shevat, observed this week, symbolizes growth and renewal. As Yerucham celebrates the 75th anniversary of its founding, the Miami-Yerucham Partnership has launched a two-week project, matching kindergartners through 5th graders in Miami with students in Yerucham. The Yerucham students begin a drawing of a tree that Miami students then complete to symbolize Jewish unity and a shared sense of purpose. The accessible and inclusive project helps students in Miami understand shared Jewish traditions, celebrate Jewish life and feel bonded to their Jewish family around the world.
