The Women’s Event: A Vibrant Blend of Community and Cuisine

The Women’s Event, held last week by Federation’s Women’s Philanthropy, was an opportunity to gather for a taste of community and cuisine. Israeli chef Yaniv Cohen, a.k.a. The Spice Detective both at his Jaffa Miami restaurant and as author of the cookbook My Spiced Kitchen, shared his personal journey and the health benefits of cooking with spices. Participants created their own spice blends to take home and tasted two signature dishes created by Cohen. Chaired by Dr. Margo Brilliant, the event highlighted how Federation is responding to the aftermath of October 7 and the resulting rise of antisemitism and inspired participants to support the Annual Federation Campaign. The program also included a mitzvah (good deed) project, spearheaded by Federation’s Jewish Volunteer Center, to address food insufficiency in school-age children. Participants packed bags of easy-to-prepare foods to be distributed to students at local schools and centers during spring break when there is no access to school cafeterias.
