UF Hillel Named in Honor of Federation Supporters Diane and Howard Schilit

Longtime Federation supporters Diane and Howard Schilit were recently recognized for their generous gift to the University of Florida (UF) Hillel. “I want the staff to have resources they need to do the amazing job they are doing,” said Diane, a UF alumna and current UF Hillel Board member. She is a Forever Lion and previously served on the Federation Board of Directors. Howard is a champion of Jewish camping and community organizations. UF has the largest Jewish undergraduate population at a US public university with an estimated 6,000 Jewish students. Since the October 7 attacks and the rise in campus antisemitism, the Diane and Howard Schilit Hillel has seen record engagement levels. “I have never felt more accepted in a place than I have at Hillel,” shared UF sophomore Ella Prince. “I know when I am there, I am safe.”
