Teaching Students About Israel and Antisemitism Post-10/7

Amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war and the alarming rise in worldwide antisemitism, students around the globe are in need of assistance, not only to process the horrific events but also to clarify the current landscape and how to best defend our Jewish homeland. That is why Federation overseas partner World ORT recently hosted a three-part educational series via Zoom for its students, informing them about the Israel-Hamas war and Israel’s response, as well as the connection between anti-Zionism and antisemitism. A fourth session provided tools for school principals and teachers to best serve their students. The students’ response was a sigh of relief, a reaction to receiving the answers they so desperately wanted and the social and emotional support they required. Said one student, “Being a Jew in a world full of hatred requires great knowledge. During the lessons, we had the opportunity to ask questions and solve our doubts, giving us the ability to face situations in which we are discriminated against, just for being Jewish.” World ORT receives funding from both the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign and the Israel Emergency Fund.
