Who’s Going on the Miami Mega Mission?

Since the Greater Miami Jewish Federation launched Miami Mega Mission Israel 2012, the question has been asked: “Are you going?” And more than 700 people from across Miami’s Jewish community have answered with a resounding “YES!”

As a result, this mission has truly lived up to its “Mega” name. According to The Jewish Federations of North America – which represents 157 Jewish Federations and more than 300 independent Jewish communities across the continent – the Miami Mega Mission is the largest mission to Israel from any Jewish community in more than a decade.

In addition to being large, this group is diverse. The youngest participant is 22 years old (there are 119 people under the age of 40) and the eldest is 88. There are students and professionals, parents and their children, singles and couples, Holocaust survivors, and a large contingent of Latin American Jews. Seventeen rabbis and cantors from the Miami area are joining the Mega Mission — most with their own congregants.

Some participants have traveled on Federation missions before, and for some this is their first Federation Mega Mission. And more than 20% of the people on the Mega Mission have chosen this experience with the Greater Miami Jewish Federation as their very first journey to Israel!
