Sunday, April 15 • 4:00pm The Alper JCC Sablotsky Cultural Arts Center presents a Jazz Concert of the Israeli and American Songbook - a unique musical project where classical Israeli songs are played in a jazz style. It is common in jazz that the American songbook is played in jazz but to the best of our knowledge, no one has taken the Israeli songbook and played it in a jazz style. This concert features legendary jazz musician, Ira Sullivan, as well as Marc Berner and Gideon Vigderhous and additional musicians of the rhythm section who will lend their musical creativity to the ensemble, making it a joy to listen to.
Ira Sullivan is a true jazz legend whose roots go back so far that he was jamming with the cool cats in Chicago for the birth of Bebop. Ira Sullivan is multi-faceted musician and composer who calls Washington, D.C. his birthplace. Around 1963, Sullivan moved to Miami to raise his family. And now over 50 years later, he will be performing at the Alper JCC’s own Russell Theater. Tickets: $15 JCC Member • $20 Community
