October is Disability Awareness Month

Slide

Miami Jewish Abilities Alliance raises awareness around disability access and advocacy.

The Miami Jewish Abilities Alliance (MJAA) remains a vital resource in our community. The MJAA website provides a unique and comprehensive guide on everything from advocating for a child with a learning disability to navigating the transition into adulthood.

With the High Holidays quickly approaching, MJAA has brought together an expansive list of services, activities, accessibility and inclusion guides around these meaningful times of prayer and worship. It’s also election season and every voter should be able to cast a ballot. This page ensures individuals with disabilities know the multiple voting options that meet the ADA standards in Miami-Dade County, including a paper-based voting system, touchscreen, audio technology and sip-and-puff capabilities for voters with special needs. Finally, the Disability and Mental Health page includes local and national resources for individuals with and without disabilities looking for mental health and wellness support.

MJAA is a program of Federation and also offers a disability specialist.
