Volunteer with the Greater Miami Jewish Federation

High school and teen volunteers are needed for help with specific creative projects and basic office duties. All ages are encouraged to volunteer. Days and times are flexible. For more information on this opportunity, please contact Lori Tabachnikoff, Director of the Jewish Volunteer Center, at 786.866.8680. The Greater Miami Jewish Federation is located near the popular Midtown area of Miami.

Volunteer in the North Dade Office of Federation and help strengthen Miami’s Jewish Community. Volunteers are needed this summer to make phone calls to community members who give generously to Federation’s Annual Campaign. This service opportunity is for both teens and adults. Volunteer hours are flexible between 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Friday. Service hours are available for those who participate. If you would like to volunteer, please call the North Dade branch of the Federation, located at the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center at 305.705.0800.

Volunteer with the Center for Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE)

Are you tech savvy? Do you have a special skill with computers? The Center for Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE) located at 4200 Biscayne Boulevard is looking for a volunteer to help with data base management and research. This volunteer opportunity has flexible hours, between 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Friday. This is a great opportunity for High School teens looking for a meaningful way to give back this summer and add a great expereince to their college resume. Volunteer with Miami Jewish Health Systems

• Community Connection - Miami Jewish Health Systems (in cooperation with Federation's JVC) offers a monthly group volunteer opportunity at MJHS on the first Thursday of every month from 4 to 6:30 p.m. unless that day is a major holiday. This opportunity is ideal for teens, adults, families and clubs to visit with our nursing home residents. A guitar player is also needed each month. Certificate for 2.5 community service hours is given for participation.

• Volunteer in Therapeutic Recreation doing activities with our nursing home residents. Opportunities available 7 days a week during the day. Teens 14 -17 and adults 18 and up.

• Volunteer in our Ambulatory Health Clinic transporting patients and assisting staff. Opportunities available Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Teens 14 -17 and adults 18 and up.

• Volunteer in many interesting offices while learning valuable job skills. Opportunities available Monday through Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Teens 14 -17 and adults 18 and up.

Volunteer at the Community Closet

The Community Closet is a thrift shop catering to the Jewish community. Volunteers are needed Sunday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Tuesday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Thursday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. to organize donated items and assist clients in the store. This opportunity is available to those age 12 and older. The Closet is located in North Dade on the campus of Sky Lake Synagogue at 1840 NE 183rd St., North Miami Beach.

Volunteer with the Jewish Museum of Florida–FIU

The museum's Teen Docent Volunteer Program is looking for students in grades 8 and above who enjoy public speaking and have an interest in Jewish history, art and culture. As a Teen Docent, you will give tours to other teens and visitors from all over the world. You don't have to have any special knowledge, just a willingness to learn! You will attend our 3 two-hour training sessions at the museum this summer. Dates and times TBD. Upon completion, you will show off your skills during a special Museum Family Day on Sunday, October 18. We welcome you to continue to docent during the school year, as your schedule permits.

As a teen docent you will:

· Receive community service hours

· Develop leadership and public speaking skills

· Earn great experience for college and job applications

· Receive a one-year family membership to the museum

There are also other volunteer opportunities available at the museum in special events, administrative duties and oral histories. The exhibits at the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU tell stories about families like yours! They are located in two historic Art Deco-style former synagogues at 301 Washington Avenue on Miami Beach. Volunteer at Temple Beth Am Day School

Volunteers will help teachers pack up and move materials to new classrooms, or stuff and mail items for the new school year. Volunteers are needed 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday during the weeks of June 1, June 8 and July 27. Earn 20-60 community service hours, depending on commitment. Teens and adults are encouraged to volunteer. For more information, please contact Rabbi Rachel Greengrass at 305.667.6667.
