BeWell Miami Holds Youth Mental Health First Aid Trainings

Federation’s BeWell Miami is offering Youth Mental Health First Aid, an evidence-based training program to better equip adults working with youth. Presented in partnership with Jewish Community Services of South Florida, the complimentary course teaches how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance abuse concerns in adolescents ages 12-18. Participants learn to provide initial support to teens struggling with these issues and connect them to the appropriate care. Rabbi Yakov Garfinkel, Lubavitch Educational Center’s Middle School Principal, said, “This was an incredible course — thoughtful, informative. I strongly advise other schools to do it as well.” BeWell is also working with Federation partner CAJE | The Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education to introduce the program into Jewish day schools.
