JCRC: Urge Presbyterians to Reject Israel Divestment

Over the last several years, the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and its umbrella organization, the Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA), have worked to counter anti-Israel divestment efforts in several Christian churches. One of the most notable efforts has targeted the divestment efforts of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

The PCUSA will hold its General Assembly from June 30 until July 7, and delegates will vote on a pro-divestment resolution that has been approved by the church’s investment committee and the executive council. The leadership will consider a report that calls for divestment from three companies for their sales to Israel.

In response, a letter was drafted that builds upon earlier efforts by the rabbinical community. More than 1,300 American rabbis from all four religious streams signed a letter that was sent to Presbyterian Church (USA) delegates. Please join these rabbis, the JCRC, JCPA and other Jewish organizations in asking Presbyterians to return to embracing positive peacemaking instead of divestment.
