16th Annual Everything but the Turkey: A Huge Success

In the days leading up to Thanksgiving, Federation’s Jewish Volunteer Center bought together more than 600 volunteers to help Miami’s vulnerable residents have a happy holiday. The program, now in its 16th year, was held twice — once at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC for North Dade residents and again at Temple Beth Am for individuals and families living in South Dade. Together, participants prepared 1,200 meals, 3,000 slices of pie, 300 cards and cookies for children, 500 pediatric dental kits and 600 winter weather kits. Meals and items benefited a variety of local nonprofits including Enfamilia, Mau’s Foundation, Miami Rescue Mission, JCS Kosher Food Bank and One World One Heart. The group was also able to offer families of migrant farm workers in Florida City with 40 baskets full of items for their Thanksgiving meals.
