Federation Addresses Trauma Impacting Israeli Students

As children in Israel return to school, Federation continues to support their resilience, especially for those displaced from the north and the south. A recent allocation to local Israeli government agencies from Jewish Federations of North America of more than $63 million will sustain and rebuild vital educational infrastructure and programs for war-impacted communities, many whose members are first returning home. Since the war in Gaza began, more than 38,000 student evacuees from preschool through high school have experienced long periods of school closure, academic instability and social upheaval. In addition, young people throughout Israel have routinely endured sirens, explosions, loved ones serving in the military and exposure to horrific images of October 7. Federation funding addresses the widespread trauma impacting Israeli students of all ages by providing resources through schools, youth movements, community centers and regional initiatives to encourage growth, learning and national healing.
