Holocaust Memorial Awards Two Scholarships for Outstanding Research

The Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach has awarded two graduate students with the Fruma and Murray Berger Scholarship in Jewish Resistance During the Holocaust. The annual award, created by Miami Beach resident Ralph S. Berger in memory of his parents who were Holocaust survivors and resistance fighters, recognizes outstanding student research in this critical field of study. Selected from submissions from across the US were Katherine Kloberdanz, an Arizona State University graduate student whose research examines Jewish participation in the Free France Resistance Movement, and Alex Scheepens, a University of Wisconsin–Madison graduate student whose essay details Jewish women hiding in Nazi-occupied Netherlands. Both award winners spoke to Holocaust Memorial leadership this week. The Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach is a Committee of Federation.
