News From the Greater Miami Jewish Federation

Through our partner agency, Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS), and generous contributions to the Annual Federation/UJA Campaign, hundreds of underserved and at-risk families in Miami, in addition to many Holocaust survivors, have access to the JCS Kosher Food Bank.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem, the Israel Action Network (IAN), is co-sponsoring an educational project.

Recognizing that Jewish overnight camp is an important part of strengthening a child’s Jewish identity, Federation distributed more than $122,000 to Miami-area children ages 8 to 17 to attend camp this summer.

Join the Miami Jewish Film Festival and Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council for a screening of East Jerusalem/West Jerusalem at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 13 at O Cinema Miami Beach.

This past year, Federation and our overseas partner, The Jewish Agency for Israel, helped nearly 100 at-risk preteens and adolescents through community-based mentoring in Miami’s partnership city of Yerucham. Youth Futures, a Jewish Agency flagship program, trains local mentors to work as trusted guides and help students improve school performance, strengthen social integration and inspire community engagement.

With great sadness, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation mourns the passing of Myron J. “Mike” Brodie, of blessed memory, a former Executive Vice President of Federation from 1972 to 1992, and an active Vice President, Emeritus following his formal retirement.
