Federation Partner JDC Helps the Most Vulnerable in Israel’s North

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation is helping institute a two-stage emergency preparedness plan to aid 150,000 vulnerable residents of Israel’s evacuated northern communities. In response to ongoing Hezbollah rocket attacks, Federation partners the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee and United Hatzalah of Israel are addressing disaster readiness across 15 towns in northern Israel. The first stage is delivering customized emergency kits to those at risk. Stage two will provide direct aid to the most vulnerable — elderly, people with disabilities and families with young children — should the security situation worsen. While 68,000 residents were evacuated by the government in the early days of the war, tens of thousands have remained in their homes and their safety continues to be threatened. Additionally, JDC is increasing the number of community caseworkers who can reach out to older adults in northern cities, as well as those who have already been evacuated, to provide immediate emotional support and helpful community resources.
