A Statement from the Greater Miami Jewish Federation
Jewish Community Relations Council
 on Kehillat Ra’anana in Israel

The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation sends a heartfelt message of support to the members of Kehillat Ra’anana in Israel following the unconscionable and hateful vandalism of their synagogue last week, which referenced rulings by Maimonides regarding non-believers.

The JCRC condemns all hate-filled crimes of any nature. Furthermore, we underscore the importance of a pluralistic Israeli society steeped in the democratic values of respect and tolerance. We will continue to do all in our power to ensure that Israel serve as the most inclusive and welcoming homeland for all Jewish people – a place where Jewish values, culture, peoplehood and the multiplicity of Jewish religious practice can flourish.

Our JCRC is committed to educating and engaging the community to act on issues of Jewish concern in Miami, in Israel and around the world. We applaud Kehillat Ra’anana’s work toward advancing religious identity and practice in Israel and express our outrage at those who would seek to attack an institution serving individuals and families pursuing a meaningful Jewish way of life.
