Rehabilitating Southern Israel’s Youth Through Creative Informal Education

Federation continues to prioritize the wellbeing and resilience of teens and young adults in southern Israel. Through the Israel Emergency Fund, Federation is supporting the renovation and revival of the Shikma Educational Institution, an informal framework helping to encourage the next generation of leaders by instilling values of responsibility, leadership and unity through creative work in small group settings. Before the war, more than 200 teens from the Gaza Envelope were enrolled in Shikma. Through additional need-based scholarships for individuals directly affected by October 7, personal and group resilience workshops, enhanced electronic security systems and more, Shikma is creating a safe and nurturing environment that fosters creativity, identity and a spirit of community.
