Federation Support Helps Jewish Children in Ukraine Begin School With Supplies and Smiles

As Jewish children across Ukraine returned to school earlier this month, Federation helped ensure they had the practical and emotional support needed for a successful academic year. At a daylong Jewish community event in Kropyvnytskyi, children enjoyed educational games and ice cream and received items for the start of classes. In Odesa, volunteers at the local JCC filled schoolbags with pens, pencils, watercolors, folders and other classroom essentials. The JCC also hosted a fundraising science show and craft workshop, donating unused materials to people in need. In Lviv, a Jewish Federations of North America delegation helped pack boxes of school supplies for local students. “I watched our generosity reach people,” said one participant. “It not only stocked a backpack but also provided help when it was needed most.”
