Daniel Gordis presents his latest book, “Menachem Begin: The Battle for Israel’s Soul,” a fascinating biography of the sixth prime minister of Israel that explains how the pre-state terrorist became the first Israeli leader to sign a peace treaty with an Arab country. Daniel Gordis is an award-winning author and journalist. He is a regular contributor to The Jerusalem Post, and has written for The New York Times, The New Republic and The New York Times Magazine. Professor Alan Dershowitz has called Gordis “one of Israel’s most thoughtful observers.” The Forward has called him “one of the most respected Israel analysts around.” In 2014, the Jerusalem Post listed him as one of the world’s 50 most influential Jews, while Jeffrey Goldberg of the Atlantic says, “If you asked me, ‘of all the people you know, who cares the most about the physical, moral and spiritual health of Israel?’ I would put the commentator and scholar Daniel Gordis at the top of the list.” Leonard Fein has written that Gordis is “perhaps the single most popular speaker on Israel to American Jewish audiences.” This event is being held at Beth David Congregation. Transportation is available from the Miami Beach JCC.

2014-11-18, 7:30 pm

JCC CONVERSATIONS with host Glenna Milburg offers a rare opportunity to be up close and personal with top thinkers, artists, chefs, leaders and innovators in intimate conversations that provoke, enlighten and inspire. Join her as she interviews Naomi Wlizig, owner of The World Erotic Art Museum. In 2005, Naomi Wilzig opened the first and only fine erotic art museum in the United States. Despite opposition by numerous politicians and landlords, she persevered in her search for a location, finally succeeding in winning acceptance in Miami Beach. The museum collection encompasses all continents, cultures, centuries and lifestyles. It is an historic trip throughout the world through the sexual art of the various cultures. In addition to running the museum, Naomi is active in many charitable areas in the community, particularly the Jewish Federation, the Holocaust Memorial, and the South of 5th Street Chabad. She and her museum have received many public accolades and honors.
