Beit Dan JCC Becomes DanLand!

Move over Disney World — DanLand is here! Volunteers from the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee’s (JDC) volunteer center in Kharkiv, Ukraine, created an amusement park for Beit Dan JCC families. The event offered an array of fun-filled activities such as a virtual reality room, heart-pumping laser tag battles and competitive games of giant Jenga. This unique program not only brought together the Jewish community, but also offered a rare opportunity to put a relaxed smile on the faces of children and their parents during the Ukraine war, which has hit Kharkiv particularly hard. “During the events, you simply forget about your problems and experiences — you just enjoy the moment and rejoice like a child,” said Katerina, a mother of two who recently returned to the city after fleeing with her family. Donations to the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign directly benefit JDC, Federation’s longstanding overseas partner. To make a secure donation online now, please click here.
