Do Good, Feel Good, Chat for Good: Connect With Ukrainians Virtually

Make a difference in the lives of Ukrainians impacted by the ongoing conflict by volunteering to help improve their English through “Connect for Good: Chat With Ukraine.” Launched by the Jewish Federations of North America’s Global Volunteer Hub, the virtual-platform initiative matches English speakers with Ukrainians for weekly one-on-one conversational practice and cultural exchange via video chat. Volunteers also take part in monthly Federation learning sessions to ground the program in Jewish values. “This opportunity could help Ukrainians broaden their skills and increase income at a time when they are under both military and economic bombardment,” said Global Volunteer Director Hannah Miller, who explained that the program also furthers participants’ engagement in the Jewish community. Through its partnership with ENGin, a nonprofit committed to “changing the world one conversation at time,” Connect for Good trains English-speaking volunteers ages 14 years and older; no prior teaching or tutoring experience is necessary.
