JVC Launches New Teen Service Initiative

A new teen service initiative by Federation’s Jewish Volunteer Center (JVC) will provide students with a wealth of volunteer opportunities during school holidays and Spring Break for 2023-2024. The first of five single-day events is on Friday, October 27, a teacher workday for Miami-Dade County public schools, at Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), where volunteers will assist in disaster relief activities to accrue three service hours. Other service days will bring students to lend a hand at the Salvation Army, Lighthouse for the Blind, En Familia and the Miami Diaper Bank. “It’s about so much more than earning service hours,” said Jennifer Clarin, JVC Teen Leadership Chair. “It’s an opportunity to contribute to the greater community and learn firsthand about giving back.” In addition to these individual service days, JVC is also offering Alternative Spring Break, March 25-29, when participants can earn up to 20 service hours. Registration is required for all service days and space is limited. For more information, contact JVC Director Lori Tabachnikoff at [email protected] or 786.866.8380.
