OLAM Seminar Series Features Trio of Leadership Experts for 2011
After a stellar opening pair in the fall, the 2010-2011 OLAM (Organization for Leadership Advancement in Miami) Seminar Series from the Greater Miami Jewish Federation rolls into 2011 with three exciting programs focused on leadership development.
The mission of OLAM is to develop and nurture a network of volunteer and professional leaders who commit to a shared vision for the future, employ common leadership concepts and language, and possess the breadth of skills necessary to assume leadership responsibilities within Jewish communal institutions.
For only the cost of lunch, OLAM participants have the unique opportunity to learn from an elite group of distinguished executives, consultants, authors and educators in a series of informative workshops. Attendees explore concepts and methods to improve and enhance their leadership skills and organizational goals. The select faculty hails from such renowned institutions as University of Miami, Kellogg School of Management and Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies.
The following programs are part of the 2010-2011 OLAM Seminar Series:
Monday, January 24: Dr. Erica Brown, Author, Educator, Consultant
“How to Make Your Board Service More Meaningful”
In this workshop, we will think about who should serve on boards, how we can recruit and retain the best people, what functions boards have, how boards work best with professionals and how to make meetings more productive and exciting, even – and especially - in tough economic times.
Wednesday, March 30: Vicki Agron, Consultant
“Short Messages That Deliver A Big Impact”
We live in a sound bite world where everyone is inundated with information, over-programmed, and anxious to hear the bottom line. Learn how to read your audience and to spontaneously, effectively and briefly articulate your organization’s vision and mission. Find out how to make a compelling case for giving from Ms. Agron, who has worked with Jewish Federations and other non-profit organizations throughout the world for more than 35 years.
Wednesday, May 4: Dr. Isaac Prilleltensky, Dean, School of Education, University of Miami
“Promoting Well-Being: Linking Personal, Organizational and Community Well-Being”
This seminar will explore signs, sources and strategies for personal, organizational and community well-being. In a new model developed by Isaac Prilleltensky and his team at the University of Miami, we will learn how to promote well-being based on SPEC, an acronym for Strengths, Prevention, Empowerment and Community change. Some concrete techniques that will be taught in the seminar include being an inclusive host, a visionary, an asset seeker, a good listener and a good program implementer and evaluator. We will learn how to engage in productive organizational development, how to form effective teams and how to sustain change.
Couvert for OLAM seminars is $18 per session and includes a kosher lunch. All programs begin at noon at the Greater Miami Jewish Federation Stanley C Myers Building, 4200 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami.
Approved Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits are available.
