Ukrainians Find Joy in the Sukkah

Last week, a number of Federation-supported JCCs and Hesed social welfare centers in Ukraine ensured the local Jewish population had a vibrant and meaningful Sukkot, despite the war that has been gripping the nation for more than two years. In cities across the country, from Odesa and Kharkiv to Poltava and Zaporizhzhia, a mix of fun and educational events brought together hundreds of intergenerational Jews, all of whom needed a respite from the ongoing violence surrounding them. Some of the festivities included concerts and musical performances by professionals and children alike, story time with PJ Library, candy-making, trivia games, art therapy, cooking workshops, and of course, joyful celebrations in the sukkah.
