Yerucham Soldier Falls in Battle

Our Greater Miami Jewish Federation family mourns the loss of Captain Itai Seif, z”l, a 24-year-old platoon commander in the Givati Brigade from our partnership city of Yerucham, who fell in combat in Northern Gaza. The funeral was held earlier this week in Yerucham, where the typically quiet roads were backed up with traffic as Itai's neighbors, friends, teachers and fellow soldiers headed to the Yerucham military cemetery to pay their final respects. Even children from the local matnas (community center) lined the streets waving flags for their local hero. When Itai was in high school in Yerucham, he was part of the Yerucham Robotics team, the Y-Team, serving as captain for two years. His teammates shared that he led with determination and professionalism and was always pleasant and cheerful. Our Yerucham Partnership committee members and professionals attended the funeral, as did Ofer Lichtig, Miami's Israel-based professional, who carried with them condolences from our Miami community. May Itai’s memory be a blessing and his family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
