Alternative Therapy Helps Israeli Teens Affected by October 7

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation is helping young adults and teens traumatized by the October 7 attacks through unique eco-farming initiatives. Our Israel Emergency Fund (IEF) is supporting the expansion of therapeutic agricultural programs at Rimon Farms. Located in the northern Negev, Rimon provides children ages 12-18 alternative therapy via sustainable agriculture that enhances capability, self-confidence and self-worth. In the past eight months, the farm has helped more than 250 youth, the majority of whom participated in multiple day-long sessions that included working in a vineyard, an ecological orchard, an edible forest, an olive grove and a vegetable garden, as well as baking and talk therapy group sessions to process trauma. Others received individualized care plans spanning weeks or months. In addition, Rimon Farms has hosted 320 children and teens for one-day respite visits from various schools such as the kindergarten at Kibbutz Be’eri.
