FVC: A Busy Summer of Tikkun Olam

It’s been a busy summer for the Federation Volunteer Center (FVC), which has been collaborating with numerous community partners and engaging hundreds of Jewish Miamians in hands-on service projects. One highlight has been FVC’s connection with Alper JCC Miami, one of three Federation-funded JCCs, where campers have been working on volunteer projects Mondays and Fridays. Together, they have assembled more than 1,000 items to be distributed to those in need, including personal care kits for middle school girls, supporting emotional wellness and self-expression; back-to-school kits for students in need, equipping them for a strong start to the academic year; breakfast bags for children who are not receiving free lunch this summer, combating food insecurity; and DIY stuffed animal kits, comforting families with premature infants in the NICU. FVC has also organized service field trips for Counselors-in-Training and older campers to community gardens and the JCS Kosher Food Bank.
