Call for Nominations for the 2012 Judicial Reception

The Attorneys’ Division of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation is now accepting nominations for honorees at the 28th Annual Judicial Reception. The event will feature the presentation of three prestigious awards that recognize accomplished jurists. The Judicial Reception is a major social event in the legal community, attracting hundreds of South Florida’s most prominent attorneys and judges each year.

The three awards are:

The Lifetime Achievement Award, which is presented to a judge who is committed to the pursuit of justice, has made important contributions to public life, as well as performed public service at the highest level. The honoree possesses a sterling reputation, shows integrity and compassion. The individual’s career has exemplified a long-term commitment to excellence in law and is dedicated to public service the multi-ethnic community.

The Community Service Award, which is presented to a judge who has championed important issues and demonstrated significant leadership in the practice of law, as well as service to the society. The honoree is someone whose wisdom and compassion have made a real difference in the court system and in our society; an individual who possesses an open mind, as well as a generous heart. Considerations should include longevity of community service; scope of impact on the community; and the social justice impact of community service.

The Honorable Theodore “Ted” Klein Special Recognition Award, which is presented to a judge or attorney whose values, dedication and character have had a profound impact on the lives of others in the legal community. This individual is a superb jurist who possesses an exceptional level of jurisprudence and has earned universal respect as an influential advocate, a gifted mentor to his peers, and an honor to the legal profession. This award is named in honor of the late Ted Klein who embodied the principal that those we value most in life are those who help others and live their life as an example for others.
