February Is Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance & Inclusion Month

February is Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance & Inclusion Month (JDAIM). In the days and weeks ahead, numerous local and national organizations are offering programming to inform and educate participants of all ages and provide opportunities for advocacy. From a PJ Library Story Time at the Miami Children's Museum to a virtual book review and online webinars, to an under-the-stars movie presentation at the Miami Beach JCC, JDAIM offers engaging chances to learn about challenges facing people with disabilities, as well as real solutions to specific issues. JDAIM is a unified effort among Jewish organizations worldwide to raise awareness and foster inclusion of people with disabilities and those who love them. Established in 2009 by the Jewish Special Education International Consortium, JDAIM is observed each February. The Miami Jewish Abilities Alliance (MJAA) a Greater Miami Jewish Federation-funded program, works year-round to link individuals with disabilities — and their families — to resources, services, support groups, workshops, clinics and recreational programs within our community.
