Federation Helping Israeli Evacuees Return Home

More than a year and a half after October 7, as tens of thousands of evacuees return to their communities in northern Israel, Federation is assisting local governments in meeting the needs of their residents. The town of Shlomi, which sits along Israel’s northwestern border with Lebanon, recently welcomed home 9,000 individuals (one group pictured above). While some are eager to return, others, especially those from areas devastated by Hezbollah rocket attacks, feel they are not yet adequately prepared and require a great deal of support. Under the direction of long-term project managers, teams are helping organize operational concepts, connect with government ministries, promote effective work routines and facilitate the transfer of data, information and knowledge between authorities. Prior to the reopening of local schools in early March, about 42 percent of the 7,500 evacuated residents had returned.
