Helping Seniors in Jewish Miami Overcome Food Insecurity
Food insecurity is one of the greatest challenges facing older adults in our community, which is why Federation supports programs like the JCS Senior Ride Program. Between fixed incomes, the high cost of groceries and limited access to transportation, seniors often have difficulty putting nutritious food in their pantries. Federation’s primary social service partner, Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS), offers a variety of critical programs for those age 60 and older in Miami-Dade County. The JCS Senior Ride Program provides reliable transportation to JCS’ congregate meal sites and the JCS Kosher Food Bank. Last year, the program provided 8,086 rides, helping Miami seniors maintain their health, stay connected and participate in social and community events. To support vital programs like these, please donate to the Annual Federation Campaign here.
