Grandparents Influence Jewish Legacy

Recognizing that grandparents play an important role in solidifying the Jewish legacy, Federation is participating in a unique new program. Working with our overseas partner, The Jewish Agency for Israel, and utilizing the Partnership2Gether initiative as a foundation, G2: Global Intergenerational Initiative will pair grandparents with their pre-teen (5-8th grade) grandchildren to share their Jewish experiences and values. Each cohort of the program will run simultaneously in cities all over the world. Miami and our partner city of Yerucham are included in the pilot year, beginning this fall.

The yearlong initiative includes monthly sessions in which the pairs will come together for innovative Jewish programming where grandparents will share their heritage and inspire the younger generation with their commitment to Jewish community, Jewish values and Israel. It also includes monthly value-based adventures that put Jewish values into practice. G2 will offer a menu of meaningful and fun activities from which to choose. Plus, online meetings, Israel partner regions and a global digital platform will create meaningful and ongoing connections between all participants. The year culminates with an intergenerational Global Israel Experience, uniting all the zugot from Israel and the Diaspora for an incredible week of discovering the country, exploring Jewish adulthood and volunteering as one global Jewish family.
