Hillels of Florida Receive the 2024 Innovation Award

The Federation-funded Hillels of Florida received the 2024 Innovation Award at the recent Hillel International Global Assembly (HIGA) in Boston. The HIGA honor recognizes bold and creative efforts that beneficially impact college students. The Florida Hillels — Central Florida Hillel, Hillel at FIU, Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach, Hillels of the Florida Suncoast, Hillel at FSU, UF Hillel and UM Hillel — were given the award for their collaboration on the Florida Hillel Poland Experience. This immersive, transformative journey through Poland takes students through the lessons of the Holocaust, empowering them to draw strength in the fight against the alarming rise in antisemitism today. Participants explore Jewish life in Warsaw, Krakow and Lublin while bearing witness to the atrocities of Auschwitz, Birkenau, Treblinka and Majdanek. The Poland Experience is a unique and meaningful opportunity for the students to connect with Judaism, history and their peers.
