Miami Beach Proclaims Holocaust Survivor Recognition Day

In recognition of national Holocaust Survivor Day and the critical work of the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, the City of Miami Beach proclaimed Tuesday, June 5 as Holocaust Survivor Recognition Day at a special ceremony coordinated by the Holocaust Memorial and Seed the Dream Foundation. The Proclamation noted, “The Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach receives more than 100,000 visitors annually [and] is a leading provider of Holocaust Education throughout the State of Florida," among other important facts. More than 60 attendees gathered at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden to honor Survivors and local volunteers, including Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber. Chair of the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach Jessica Katz addressed the group with a heartfelt message: “It is your strength, your resilience, your positivity, your willingness to bravely share yourselves and your stories with us that inspire us to sustain our mission of Holocaust remembrance and education.” Survivors also received gifts from the Mayor’s Office and the Holocaust Memorial.
