Finding Inspiration in Yerucham: Miami JCCs Hold Flag Football Tournament

Inspired by a visit to our partnership city of Yerucham, Israel, Miami’s three Federation-funded JCCs recently kicked off the inaugural Intra-JCC Flag Football League Tournament. While in Yerucham, our JCC leaders bonded with one another and their Israeli counterparts at the local matnas (community centers), observing innovative team-building activities and competitions. Upon returning home, they decided to recreate one of their favorites, coordinating a flag football tournament for third through fifth graders over multiple weekends. “For the kids, it fosters pride, teamwork and a sense of representing something larger than themselves,” said Federation Board member Josh Kligler, whose son, Benny, 9, participated. “Equally impactful is the opportunity for parents to come together organically, build relationships and feel connected through a shared Jewish experience.”
