JWorks Provides Help for Job Seekers

Behind the headlines of economic insecurity are real people … a woman who lost her job due to the pandemic, a new immigrant with a family in need of job counseling and a job seeker who wanted to fulfill her passion working with children while earning a living wage. These are just a few of the examples of people whom JWorks Miami, a community employment program, has helped in the last year. Created in 2010, JWorks is a collaboration between Federation and our primary human services partner Jewish Community Services of South Florida. The program provides free career coaching, resume guidance, networking opportunities, resources and more to prospective employees and helps pair qualified candidates with employers. Employers rely on JWorks, too. In the past year, more than 200 positions have been posted on the job board, marking a 40% increase over 2020. The 2024-2025 season will come to a close on Thursday, May 22 at the 87th Annual Meeting, when the Greater Miami Jewish Federation will install the 2025-2026 Board of Directors, Trustees, Leadership Council and Council of Jewish Organizations.
