Saul Schottenstein Grocery Gift Cards Help Families Celebrate High Holidays

Thanks to the vision of philanthropist Saul Schottenstein, of blessed memory, clients of Jewish Community Services Kosher Food Bank will welcome 5783 with joy, dignity and a few special touches. In addition to food packages provided for the New Year, clients will receive a gift card to a grocery store, allowing them to shop for personal favorites to include in their celebration, such as flowers to brighten their table or a traditional family dessert to complete their holiday dinner. A resident of Columbus, Ohio, Saul Schottenstein always enjoyed his time at his second home in Miami and was committed to supporting those who needed a helping hand. This year, due to the rising cost of food and other goods, the Schottenstein Foundation has increased its commitment by 30 percent. The Saul Schottenstein Foundation also provides the cards in advance of Chanukah, Passover and during the summer. JCS is Federation’s primary human service agency and we are grateful to the Schottenstein Foundation for such a meaningful act of tzedakah.
