Miami Welcomes Yerucham Friends and Social Entrepreneurs

This week, Jewish Miami welcomed Ariel Pollack Star and Betty Ben Shimon, two entrepreneurs and educators from our partnership city of Yerucham, Israel. Pollack Star is the founder of Lehem Zeh, a nonprofit bakery and Federation partner that uses the power of food and bread to connect cultures and communities through culinary activities, economic empowerment and social tourism. Together with educator and workshop leader Ben Shimon, the duo led workshops and lectures throughout Miami for members of our Young Leadership Division, South Dade branch and Diller Teen Fellows. They also visited a number of local synagogues and agencies. Last night, they brought the entire community together for a pre-Mimouna celebration at the Miami Beach JCC, where guests celebrated the Moroccan tradition with delicious treats and live music.
