Grant Recipient Celebrates Miami Pride Week With Jewish Community

As part of Miami Pride Week, more than 70 people gathered yesterday for A Wider Bridge’s Miami-Israel Pride Reception at Temple Israel of Greater Miami. The North American LGBTQ organization, whose mission is to strengthen equality in Israel and deepen engagement with Israel amongst the LGBTQ community in North America, received a 2019 Federation Jewish Incubator Grant to cultivate LGBTQ thought leaders throughout South Florida. Specifically, the nonprofit aims to bring South Florida LGBTQ leaders from politics, advocacy, media and business on 2019 LGBTQ leadership missions to Israel to experience the country through an LGBTQ lens. Israel Consul General Lior Haiat delivered special remarks during the community-wide event honoring Miami’s Jewish LGTBQ community and its allies. Last year, Israel become the first country to participate in the Miami Pride Parade.
