Prioritizing the Mental Health Needs of Young October 7 IDF Veterans

Federation continues to address the urgent mental health needs of young IDF veterans of October 7 through the Metiv Peace of Mind (POM) program. Nearly 3,000 conscripts, ages 18-21, were among the first to respond to the Hamas invasion, engaging in close combat and witnessing horrific scenes of civilian slaughter. Metiv — from the Hebrew “to do good” — has created a special October 7 veterans’ track to provide critical early trauma treatment for this generation of IDF soldiers. The Metiv Israel Psychotrauma Center, committed to transforming their suffering into growth, has supported almost 2,000 soldiers since 2023. This year, POM will offer 25 interventions specially adapted for veterans 21-26 years old, including workshops in Israel and an eight-day therapeutic seminar abroad.
