Federation Joins Forces to Fund Rehabilitative Care for IDF Veterans and Israeli Citizens

Federation is addressing the urgent rehabilitation of IDF veterans and private Israeli citizens with a $150,000 allocation from our Israel Emergency Fund (IEF). Close to 10,000 individuals have been injured since the attacks of October 7 and the ensuing war. Additionally, many wounded soldiers have lost multiple limbs due to critical injuries or required amputations. To address the current shortage of outpatient rehabilitative facilities, our Federation has partnered with the Israeli Ministry of Health, Jewish federations in Chicago, LA and Houston, as well the national IEF to open 20 new outpatient centers in underserved areas through a collective investment of $2.8 million. The funding will also increase access to rehabilitative services through extended hours, expand pediatric care and educate specialists — such as physiotherapists and occupational therapists — to engage in rehabilitation medicine.
