Robotics Festival Demonstrates Strong Partnership Between Miami and Yerucham

Scheck Hillel Community School, one of 12 Federation-funded Jewish day schools, hosted the Eighth Annual CAJE Jewish Day School Robotics Festival this May. A celebration of innovation and Jewish unity, the event showcased the design, engineering and problem-solving skills of more than 230 students in third through seventh grade from a dozen schools across South Florida. The festival marks the culmination of a year of hands-on STEM learning, furthers Jewish studies and enhances students’ connection to Israel. The annual tradition began in 2017 when third-grade educators from Miami Jewish day schools received training from Science Center professionals in Federation’s partnership city of Yerucham, Israel. And teens from the Yerucham Robotics Team then traveled to Miami to serve as mentors and advisors for the competition. Part of the South Florida Jewish Day School Robotics Initiative, the Festival is presented by CAJE | The Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education, an agency of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.
