Stepping Up for SNAP: Federation Supports Local SNAP Clients as They Lose Benefits

As SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits come to an end for millions of families across the country tomorrow, Federation has made emergency grants to help vulnerable Jewish Miami residents make ends meets and ensure they have food for themselves and their families. Working with our longtime partner Jewish Community Services (JCS) of South Florida, the disbursements will help replace funding for JCS clients losing their benefits. The allocations will provide an increase in the amount of food in home-delivered meals and grocery gift cards for SNAP clients. More than a quarter (26%) of Miami’s Jewish households reported financial struggles in Federation’s recently released Population Study, and we know many of those experiencing financial hardship are Holocaust Survivors. You can help safeguard these critical programs continue by taking action today. Click here to join Federation’s national advocacy efforts and urge Congress to ensure SNAP benefits continue through the federal shutdown.
