Women’s Amutot Initiative Awards Grants to Support Women in Israel

Your support of Federation’s Annual Campaign has helped fund the Women’s Amutot Initiative, which awards grants to organizations in Israel that empower women as they work toward social, political, economic and religious equality. Now in its 20th year, the initiative recently completed the 2022 grant cycle, awarding $328,433 — the largest amount in its history — to a diverse group of 29 organizations addressing vital issues such as supporting survivors of domestic abuse, promoting political representation for ultra-orthodox women, offering job training and placement for single mothers and guiding Ethiopian-Israeli women as they become nurses or paramedical professions. Chaired by Laura Koffsky, the committee grappled with the gravity of the impact of COVID-19 and the challenges Israeli nonprofits face. "We are deeply proud of the progress we have seen and the impact we have made, working with other national Jewish women's organizations, while recognizing there is still much work to be done," said Koffsky.
