Women’s Impact Initiative Grants Helps Launch Innovative Programming

Federation continues to prioritize the needs of women and girls through the ninth cycle of the Women’s Impact Initiative grants. Funds were awarded to nine local nonprofits whose programs seek to inspire and empower Jewish women and girls while working toward social, economic, religious and political equality in Miami. "Our grants reach a broad spectrum of community needs through thoughtful and innovative projects that address the issues at hand, while staying true to our overriding Mission," said Women's Impact Initiative Committee Chair Nancy Luria Cohen. Selected programs include support services and wellness activities for mothers of children with developmental disabilities; a mentoring program for Jewish female college students at the University of Miami; workshops to teach women and girls about preventing abuse in the form of get-refusal (the right to a Jewish divorce) and a choir group for older adults that will perform at holiday events and community celebrations.
